POLICIES
Trade-ins
We accept bicycle trade-ins of all kinds, regardless of brand or condition. We must physically see the bike to give a trade value. No approximate phone quotes will be given. Trade-ins are a great way to save money, especially on kid’s bikes as they grow.

Layaways
Anything we sell can be purchased on a layaway plan. We require 20% down payment and the item must be paid and picked up within 90 days. Layaways not picked up within 90 days risk cancellation and loss of deposit. All layaway cancellations are non-refundable. Our layaway plan allows you to put on hold the product you want without paying the full amount at once. Layaways are also popular for gift items in order to avoid the risk of discovery.

Repair Pick-up
All repairs must be picked up within 30 days of completion. After 30 days, storage will be charged at the rate of $1/day. After 90 days the bike will be sold as we will begin to wonder if you are still alive.

Special Orders
We require a 20% down payment for all special orders. This is non-refundable and the item must be paid for and picked up within 90 days of arrival or risk cancellation and loss of deposit. Generally special orders are sent out on Wednesday of each week and can take 1 to 5 days to arrive in most cases.

Box Store Bikes (or “BSO’s – Bike Shaped Objects)
Department or Box store bikes are cheap because they’re manufactured with the lowest quality materials available and slapped together by…well, anyone! These bikes, or BSO’s as we prefer to call them have an average lifespan of about 75km from factory to landfill. We reserve the right to refuse service on these bikes. Three reasons:
1. Loyal customers come first. We make no apology for stating this. We will not make our customers wait in line behind service jobs on bikes that should never have been sold in the first place. We look after the “real” bikes of our customers; the “boxes” should look after their BSO’s.
2. We will not share in the liability risk for unsafe products that shouldn’t be on the market. Even if the repair was only a flat tire, the guy who touched the bike last is usually the target.
3. Many people bring us almost new BSO’s that were never assembled properly or never designed to work properly. These bikes most often cannot be fixed as the problems are usually inherent in the design. Even when they can be made to work the bill can be more than the price of the BSO making our mechanics subject to undue abuse.

Hours
Many people ask us why we are closed two days a week and so a word about it here is necessary. Opening 6 or 7 days a week would require shift staffing the extra days with part time help and splitting up our full time employees’ “weekends”. Part time, inexperienced help may be fine for a commodity distributor like a box store but our customers deserve better service than that. That means having full time, experienced staff here during all of the hours we’re open. Also, we will not split our employees weekends as most of them have young families. Family and sanity are, and will always be, more important than money. This is something the “boxes” don’t bother to concern themselves with.
